Actually, this is a spoof of a famous scene from Rosencrantz and Guildenstern Are Dead, an absurdist play focused on the two minor messenger characters from Hamlet.

And because we all know that The Lion King closely follows the structure of Hamlet as well, it’s not difficult to see that Rosencrantz and Guildenstern are closely paralleled by Timon and Pumba.
